PwC’s Competency Centre supports the external audit business across the UK in order to audit key areas of a company’s financial statements and understand every aspect of a client’s activities. It’s important work that enhances how companies are run, playing a significant role in ensuring the reliability and relevance of business information.

You’ll be working with audit teams across the UK to provide insight and value through performing a variety of essential audit duties. This will include validating information such as invoices and bank statements against underlying client records, checking the accuracy of a client’s financial information, communicating any findings/issues with the data provided and applying PwC audit best practice and testing strategies.

The role

As a Senior Associate in Nexus, you'll work as part of a team of problem solvers, helping to solve complex business issues from strategy to execution.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to

  • Using feedback and reflection to develop self awareness, personal strengths and address development areas

  • Delegating to others to provide stretch opportunities and coaching to help deliver results

  • Developing new ideas and proposing innovative solutions to problems

  • Using a broad range of tools and techniques to extract insights from current trends in the business area

  • Reviewing your work and that of others for quality, accuracy and relevance

  • Sharing relevant thought leadership

  • Using straightforward communication, in a structured way, when influencing others

  • Ability to read situations and modify behaviour to build quality, diverse relationships

  • Upholding the firm's code of ethics and business conduct

  • As a Supervisor/Senior Associate within the PwC Assurance Competency Centre you will be a coach and mentor to those performing the audit of Cash and PP&E, helping them build core audit and professional skills.

  • Review all work performed, in line with technical (both accounting and auditing) requirements and operating procedures.

  • Have the chance to give back to community and social welfare projects, using your business skills.

You will add value through direct interaction with a large variety of clients, alongside helping to drive the PwC Assurance strategy by shaping a critical element of our delivery model. Essential Skills and Experience
  • CA / ACA / ACCA/ICAS qualified (or international equivalent)
    Or part Qualified and working towards your full CA / ACA / ACCA / ICAS (or equivalent) qualification
    Or have equivalent work experience in Audit (you’re an international candidate who technically qualifies in your home country by experience)

  • Experience of financial accounting and reporting

  • The ability to learn quickly

  • Strong project management skills

  • The ability to work effectively in a team, building good working relationships with both colleagues and client personnel at all levels

  • Experienced in coaching junior staff

  • Passion for quality

  • Experience of working to client deadlines
