Company : NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT)
Job Location : Liverpool, UK

Job Description :
NHS Blood and Transplant was established in October 2005 by the merger of the National Blood Authority (NBA) – made up of the National Blood Service and Bio Products Laboratory – and UK Transplant (UKT).
Our work is vitally important to the NHS. We need to collect, test and process around 8,000 blood donations every day to ensure a constant supply of blood to hospitals. Our work also makes some 5,500 organ and cornea transplants possible every year. In addition, we retrieve and store other tissues like skin and bone, ready for patient use. We manufacture a range of therapeutic products from blood plasma, and provide a number of related specialist services such as solid organ tissue typing and cord blood banking. We are responsible for the NHS Organ Donor Register (which has over 13 million names) together with managing the British Bone Marrow Registry.
We’re looking for someone with the all-round administration skills to play a vital role in the office of our Tissues Customer Service team.
Your job would be to provide a highly professional and efficient administration service to the Tissue Services team, helping to make sure that the department runs smoothly. It’s a very important role as you’d be overseeing and organising the selection and dispatch of tissues, on time, day in day out – these are the products that hospitals nationally need to carry out their life-saving work.
As well as working with our customers (mostly hospital staff), you’d also deal with the public – so it’s important that you have experience of working with people in a similar role and the customer-service skills that come with that.
Alongside confident communication skills, both in person and in writing, you’ll need a good working knowledge of Word, PowerPoint and Excel and the organisational skills to keep accurate records. Good with figures and educated to at least NVQ level II (or equivalent), you’ll call on your knowledge and all-round experience of office procedures and equipment to really make this role your own. The normal working hours for this role are 37.5 hours per week.
For an informal discussion in relation to this role, please contact James Leyland via email, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
This vacancy will close at 23:59 on Sunday 9th August 2020, with an interview date to be confirmed.
