Summary role profile:

The ICS Security Operations Analyst will have a primary focus on Veolia’s Operational Technology business, responsible for vulnerability assessments of the network architecture and infrastructure, assessing against industry best practices, and where necessary reporting on and providing remediation action plans and recommendations for operational teams to execute on that are in line with Veolias group policies.

The role is responsible for maintaining a strong cross-domain IT/OT communication channel, and the candidate must possess strong inter relational skills. An intimate understanding of Veolia’s ICS Security group policy must be established during the probationary period in order to deliver the confidence required to provide expert consultation on the subject matter to OT stakeholders.

The role will report directly to the Security Manager and will play a pivotal role in the delivery of the department’s objectives. It is ideal for someone looking to move more towards a consultation role and develop a strong skill set within network security, and security mitigation.

As skill set is increased over time, there will be the opportunity for the role to expand to onsite audits and assessments.

Experience & Responsibilities required:

The role holder should possess good network knowledge and understand the principles of network security hardening. These skills are essential to understanding the network posture of an environment, and the candidate will be required to produce network diagrams and documentation that detail the architecture and weaknesses. Whilst some on-hands network configuration may be required, the role is primarily consultation and design focused.

It is a requirement that you have the skills and capability to carry out the following;

  • Conduct vulnerability assessments and administrative audits of OT/IT Networks
  • Consultation and assistance with/or implement remediations to address; concerns raised by audits, in line with Veolia group policy
  • Carry out basic penetration testing and assessment.
  • Produce management reports detailing vulnerabilities and remediation designs or requirements.
  • Coordinate with operational teams to execute on remediation plans

Essential skills required:

  • Experience in architectural level design in infrastructure and endpoint security
  • Firewall zoning, preferably Check Point Firewall
  • Extensive LAN/WAN/Wireless infrastructure design experience
  • DMZ secure design and Business-to-Business (B2B) connectivity network design
  • VPN security configurations, and VPN plus private line ingress demarcations and policies
  • Secure traffic isolation across common switch, firewall, and load balancing components
  • Phased migration from existing Production to the desired end-state, while maintaining security
  • Virtualized networks including basics of Virtual Routing and Forwarding
  • Understanding of Private Virtual Local Area Networks (VLAN) (PVLANs) versus standard VLAN partitioning.
  • Exceptional written and reporting skills - responsible for delivering reports to CIO and executive level.
  • Excellent time management skills
  • CCNA Security and/or CCNP Security or similar security related certification is desirable

Desirable skills required:

  • Experience of working in high-security customer environments (SC Clearance)
  • Previous experience of working in a network support and configuration/engineering role
  • Experienced in most areas of the service lifecycle
  • Systems monitoring and management (SIEM) experience
  • Background of working with vulnerability scanning assessment tools (IP Scanning such as nmap, metasploit)
  • Basic linux skills
  • CheckPoint CCSA or similar firewall certification
  • Juniper SFX technologies
  • Network vulnerability scanning
  • Network security hardening
  • Experience in security best practice and implementation, and the OWASP top 10
  • AWS and Azure experience would be beneficial, but not essential.
