Charity Right is a growing food aid programme that provides regular meals to children in schools who often go without food or education. The Role

You will have an eye for a story and a strong background in generating and implementing successful communications plans – using a wide range of channels including social media.

You will be need to be particularly skilled at maintaining an effective online and offline presence for an organisation including; maintaining and updating websites using content management systems, creating multimedia content for all CR campaigns, producing mailings and using a range of social media tools, with proven ability to tailor communications to target different audiences to ensure positive engagement from various audiences.

Key accountabilities

  • Support the Digital Marketing Manager to build a sustainable social media strategy for the charity
  • Work closely with other teams to create assets
  • Create engaging social media posts using graphics, film and photography
  • Deal with day to day, ad hoc queries.
  • Writing creative copy for social media, email.
  • Writing and getting others to share blogs on any and all issues related to CR work.
  • Creating digital content and traditional collateral (infographics, images, printed flyers and events programmes, videos, soundbites, magazine adverts, etc)
  • Research development work trends.
  • Work with external suppliers such as designers, printers and media buyers to pull together integrated marketing campaigns
  • Work with digital colleagues to forecast and implement the annual advertising budget, ensuring maximum value for money and return on investment

Skills/ Knowledge/ Expertise


  • Comfort and confidence in working with data.
  • Good knowledge of Windows and Apple Mac OS
  • Minimum 1-year experience in a social media or communications role
  • Excellent IT skills, including using Content Management Systems e.g. WordPress
  • Understanding of search engine optimisation, email marketing systems and social media tools e.g. Mailchimp, Hootsuite, Campaign Monitor
  • Proven ability to effectively write, edit and copy for different audiences
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Proven ability in using videos and infographics including technical capability
  • An articulate and confident communicator


  • Strong interpersonal, planning, negotiating, time management, administrative and organisational skills
  • Good presentation skills
  • Photography and editing skills (or a willingness to be trained up on these)
  • Familiarity of working in the not for profit sector

  • Confident communicator who is perceptive to understanding needs/requests and able to action and prioritise these
  • Calm and patient when dealing with a range of internal and external stakeholders at all levels
  • Ability to work as a team player as well as autonomously
  • Proactive, with a ‘can do’ attitude, and ability to seize opportunities that are presented
