Job Description

As part of a drive to enhance our business efficiencies and performance, we are looking to recruit a Systems Support and Implementation Administrator to come and work within our business, allowing us to take the next step in our ongoing IT improvement programmes. In this role, you will work as an integral part of the IT team, supporting the planning, testing, integration, and roll out of new technologies and software for the business.

You will come from a deeply technical IT background and will have worked within the role of 3rd level support previously in multiple technology streams. You should have a good level of skill in as many of the following technologies as possible, and be willing to learn new technologies as the company implements them.

The Systems Administrator is primarily responsible for engineering, configuration, installation, maintenance, and upgrade of physical as well as virtual servers, storage, backups, their associated software stacks and disaster recovery planning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in supporting corporate servers, user desktops, applications etc.
  • Assist in design, configure or upgrade or virtual server environment.
  • Assist with basic troubleshooting of backup, and archiving.
  • Assist in identifying, diagnosing, and resolving connection, reliability, or performance issues.
  • Keep workroom neat, organized and secure.
  • Consult with senior peers on non-complex projects to learn through experience.
  • Support of corporate servers, user desktops, etc.
  • Design, configure or upgrade server environments.
  • Assists with advanced troubleshooting, backup, and archiving.
  • Identify, diagnose, and resolve connection, reliability, or performance issues.
  • Work within and assist with management of defined IT processes and procedures including Systems Development Life Cycle methodology
  • Work with little to no supervision with latitude for independent judgment.
  • Consult with senior peers on medium to complex projects
  • Apply basic application management and administration skills with moderate level of proficiency
  • Represent department and the organization favourably and in accordance with established Company standards and associate attributes.
  • Work within defined ITIL processes such as change and incident management. Other duties as assigned by management.
  • Strong documentation skills with the ability to create standard operating procedures for specific tasks.
  • Assist in overseeing the primary activities of individual contributors (see above) to ensure completion of tasks and attainment of departmental goals

Specific Technologies include

  • Microsoft [DO1] Stack (Windows Server 2016, Sharepoint 2016, SQL Server, SCCM, MS Terminal Services/Citrix)
  • Vmware ESX & associated modules
  • Oracle DB (on Windows Server)
  • Strong Network awareness & understanding (Cisco, Checkpoint & Virtual networking within Vmware)
  • Good storage skills inc Fibre Channel
  • Security, Firewalls, Cylance, McAffee, Redcloak etc.
  • Powershell
  • MS Exchange
  • Solarwinds
  • Exposure to ServiceNow – due to be implemented
  • Multi-Factor Authentication (Symantec VIP)

Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3-7 years of server support a must, preferably Windows 2016 or 2019 server.
  • Minimum of 3-7 years of experience managing VMware virtual server environments.
  • Minimum of 3-7 years in manage, configure, and upgrading backup solutions.
  • Minimum of 3-7 years manage, configure, and upgrading storage solutions.
  • Experience in supporting Microsoft Exchange environments.
  • Experience in supporting Linux server environments advantageous.
  • Experience using and applying System Development Lifecycle Methodologies.

Contract type: Permanent

Salary: Competitive

Possibility of international travel within the EU. There may sometimes be a requirement for home working so a suitable home office is required. A company laptop and phone are provided.

Due to the highly sensitive nature of the work, applicants should note that security clearance is required for this role. To gain security clearance you must have three years continuous residency in the UK. Criminal convictions may prevent you from gaining security clearance. All successful applicants will be required to undertake drug and alcohol testing prior to commencing employment.
