About The Role

Falmouth University's ambitious 'Doing it for Real', is designed to deliver yet further growth in our student numbers and income through portfolio diversification, innovation, research and commercial ventures. It will establish Falmouth as the market leader for creative industries and entrepreneurship education over the next decade, capitalising on our considerable assets in innovation-led research and business incubation.

To help deliver our dynamic new course, we are now looking to recruit a Lecturer in Commercial Photography to join our Institute of Photography. This role is to support our growing BA(hons) Commercial Photography course with a specific responsibility for third year students.

The successful candidate will join the Institute of Photography teaching team supported by the Head of Subject, and deliver teaching on modules which are shared across the Department. We are looking for someone to contribute significantly to the ongoing development of the course, who has a passion for the fast-changing world of Commercial Photography and is committed to a forward-thinking creative pedagogy.

About You

The ideal candidate will have experience teaching in Higher Education on a similar degree, alongside experience of commercial photography. We are looking to hear from candidates who can demonstrate the following skills/experiences:

Essential:
  • Experience working in Higher Education, leading modules and/or subject teams.
  • Good understanding of contemporary commercial practice.
  • Interest in developing the curriculum and providing a world-class photographic education
  • Strong communicator. Desirable:
    • Experience of curriculum design in HE.
    • Strong, high quality portfolio within commercial photography.
    • Strong links to industry.
    • A history of creating student / industry collaborations. This is a permanent, part time, 17.5 hours a week position.
