The School of Art at Aberystwyth University aims to appoint a Lecturer in Photography (Teaching and Research). The position requires an active involvement with the development, delivery, and administration of our photography curriculum. The role holder will be sensitive to the school's provision as a whole and will engage with our university's strategic priorities such as recruitment, retention, employability and student experience.

The School of Art offers single and joint undergraduate schemes in Fine Art (which includes a photography pathway), joint honours schemes in Photography (with a view to introducing single honours Photography as soon as is practicable), single honours Creative Arts, and single honours Art History, as well as taught master's and research programmes in the practical, historical and curatorial study of art/photography. In fine art and creative arts practice, our students specialise in painting, printmaking, drawing, photography, illustration, film, installation and site-specific performance.

As well as core art history modules spanning Renaissance to contemporary, and a portfolio of optional research-led modules, the school offers vocation-oriented modules, such as exhibition curation, that engage students with our collections of fine and decorative art. Aberystwyth is one of only two UK art schools with government accredited museum status.

The role holder will make a significant contribution to the delivery of excellence in research-led teaching and learning in photographic practice and the history of photography within the context of national and institutional guidelines. It is expected that the role holder will undertake practice-led, scholarly research in accordance with REF guidelines as well as the School of art and Aberystwyth University's research strategies. There will be a requirement to make grant funding applications and to contribute to the School's research environment.

Within AU's workload allocation system, the appointee will be required to teach and assess undergraduate and postgraduate modules as well as supervise PhD candidates. The roll holder will also take a proactive role in student recruitment and selection.
